Recreation of Financial Transactions, Fraud Investigation

This case involved an intentional overbilling by the service provider of the client for hauling water to and from frack sites.  A statistician was used to pick a sample to select and approximately 17,500 field tickets were individually reviewed, recorded, and consolidated into a template for analysis.  Through analysis, it was discovered that the client was overbilled by at least $1M.  The case went to court and the client was awarded approximately $2M, but the case has subsequently been reversed and remanded for a new trial.
